About Our Tailoring
The design of Hong Kong tailored Kingston '66 jackets and trousers is unlike many of the current market offerings. Our jackets are constructed with higher armholes for better fit across the chest, so if one has never owned a suit tailored before the 1970s, this once-standard method of construction may at first cause the wearer to believe the jacket too snug. Kingston '66 assures the client that after a few days this sensation will not only end but that he will even come to believe that all other jackets in his wardrobe are now too large. In such a case, Kingston '66 will only be too happy to supply the client with as many suits as needed.
About Our Trouser
Kingston '66 took great care in designing our trousers. Details are as follows:
The Rise - In 1964, the California company 'OOPS' produced the first hip-hugger jeans and men have been confused about trousers ever since. The youth craze had begun and it quickly prompted suit designers to similarly drop the waistbands on their models; it is for this reason that today's men have a bit of a problem with their bellies hanging over their belts. Kingston '66 should like to say that we've never thought this look particularly sharp, and that is why we produce our trousers with a rise longer than commonly found on trousers today, for the long rise puts the waistband actually back to where it belongs - at the waist - which makes for a neat, attractive, and not to mention slimming appearance.
The Droploop - Another feature we've recreated from yesteryear's trousers is the droploop. Today, trouser loops usually extend all the way to the top of the waistband or even over it, but on select Kingston '66 designs (such as The Correspondent), we drop the loops about a 1/4" from the top and about the same below. It's that extra bit of material above the belt that creates a line of continuity from trousers to shirt to jacket.
The Rear Center Loop - One common problem with today's trousers is the lack of a loop at dead-center rear. Without it, a cinched belt will create an accordion effect pushing the waistband down into a 'V' which in turn exposes a bunched shirttail. To keep our clients sharp, Kingston '66 makes sure all our looped trousers leave the tailor with this feature.
The Extra Belt Loop - Kingston '66 may be the only company that currently produces trousers with a second loop at the front closure. This loop is needed to keep the belt in a tight horizontal line else the wearer will experience the same accordion problems found with the missing rear loop. It's this sort of attention to detail that makes Kingston '66 the perfect choice for discerning gentlemen.
Taper - Trousers on some models such as The Delegate and those sold with The Racing Line benefit will be tapered as part of the design. Our method of tapering from knee to hem is guaranteed to be proportionally tailored to suit size and body type.
